Southside Solar and Electrical, a proudly locally owned and operated business in Perth, Western Australia, is thrilled to announce its participation in the transformative WA Residential Battery Scheme, launching on 1 July 2025. With a $337 million commitment from the State Government and support from the Federal Government's Cheaper Home Batteries Program, this initiative offers Perth households up to $5,000 in combined rebates and no-interest loans of up to $10,000 to install solar battery systems, making renewable energy more affordable and accessible than ever.
At Southside Solar and Electrical, we are passionate about helping Perth families achieve energy independence and embrace a sustainable lifestyle. As Western Australia leads the nation in residential solar adoption, we are ready to guide you through every step of the process to take full advantage of the WA Residential Battery Scheme. From obligation-free consultations to tailored system designs, approvals, and professional installations, our team ensures a seamless experience.
'We're excited to help Perth households harness the power of the sun with the new battery rebates,' said Calvin, owner of Southside Solar and Electrical. 'Our goal is to make renewable energy affordable, efficient, and hassle-free, so families can save on energy bills and contribute to a cleaner future.'
The WA Residential Battery Scheme offers:
Perth households (Synergy customers): Up to $1,300 in state rebates ($130 per kWh) and approximately $2,574 in federal rebates for a 10kWh battery, totaling up to $5,000 in savings.
No-interest loans: Up to $10,000 over 10 years for eligible households with a combined annual income under $210,000, covering batteries, inverters, and solar panels.
Virtual Power Plant (VPP) participation: Required for all participants, enabling energy export to the grid for additional income through higher feed-in tariffs and supporting WA's energy network with 1GWh of decentralised capacity.
Our team at Southside Solar and Electrical handles all approvals and ensures your system meets the scheme's requirements, including the use of approved battery systems (to be published by Energy Policy WA). We also provide expert advice on ensuring your existing solar setup is compatible with battery storage, such as incorporating a hybrid inverter.
Comprehensive Service: We manage the entire process, from designing a system tailored to your energy needs to securing approvals and completing professional installations.
10-Year Workmanship Warranty: We stand behind every installation, offering peace of mind with our comprehensive warranty and dedicated aftercare services.
Customer Satisfaction: Our clients rave about our professionalism and care. One customer shared, 'The team at Southside Solar and Electrical completed the whole solar installation process for us from beginning to end. Calvin and his team were professional, informative, and friendly.'
Prompt Support: From troubleshooting to warranty claims, we work with suppliers to resolve issues quickly, as one client noted: 'Our inverter stopped working, and Calvin promptly assessed it, helping us with insurance reports to get a new one installed fast.'
To maximise the benefits of the WA Residential Battery Scheme, Southside Solar and Electrical recommends:
Contacting us for a free consultation to assess your solar system's compatibility.
Pre-ordering your battery system to ensure timely installation after 1 July 2025 (installations before this date are ineligible for rebates or loans).
Staying updated on approved suppliers and equipment lists via Energy Policy WA.
By combining the WA Residential Battery Scheme with existing incentives like the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) and Distributed Energy Buyback Scheme (DEBS), households can save over $900 annually on electricity bills while contributing to an estimated $190 million in infrastructure savings by 2030, according to the Clean Energy Council.
